PALM WASH DETAILING
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Detailing goes far beyond a surface wash; it’s about preservation and restoration. Regular detailing protects your paint from the harsh South Carolina sun and coastal salt air, prevents interior materials from cracking, and maintains your vehicle's resale value.
In order to protect that investment and preserve its look and feel, we recommend having your vehicle fully detailed twice a year. Plus, let’s be honest—there is nothing quite like the feeling of driving a car that looks and smells like it just left the showroom!

Yes. We are fully licensed and insured for both our mobile services and our West Ashley shop. Your vehicle is in professional, protected hands from the moment we arrive until we hand back the keys.

The short answer: Preservation. Automatic "tunnel" washes specialize in high-volume speed, not high-quality care. Because their goal is to finish the job as fast as possible, they often use methods that cause lasting damage to your vehicle.
Abrasive Brushes & "Swirl Marks": The heavy brushes used in automatic washes are extremely abrasive. As vehicles pass through, dirt and grit from previous cars stay trapped in those brushes, effectively "sanding" your delicate paint. This improper cleaning method is what causes the infamous swirl marks and micro-scratches in your clear coat.
Harsh Chemicals: To compensate for a lack of manual labor, car washes use high-strength chemicals that are often acidic enough to strip away your wax and protective sealants.
Contaminated Drying: Even the exit is risky. Employees often use old, tired rags to dry multiple cars, scrubbing any leftover dirt or road grime directly back into your paint.
The Self-Serve Myth: Self-serve bays aren't much better. Those foaming brushes often sit on the dirty ground and are used on wheels and engines before touching your paint, transferring abrasive brake dust and grease onto your vehicle.
At Palmetto Suns Detailing, we provide a professional-grade alternative. We use the two-bucket wash method, fresh high-end soaps, and clean, plush microfibers to ensure a scratch-free, deep clean that actually improves your paint’s health rather than degrading it.

We are a mobile detailing company that comes to you! For our Sunrise and Ocean Breeze packages, we can detail your vehicle at your home, office, or any location that is convenient for you. All we require is enough space to work safely around the vehicle.
However, if your vehicle requires a higher level of service or specialized care—such as upholstery repair, headlight restoration, or ceramic coatings—we also have a professional-grade shop in West Ashley. Our facility provides a controlled environment for intensive restorative work that isn't possible on the road.
Not sure which is right for you? Just ask! We’ll help you determine if our mobile unit or our shop is the best fit for your vehicle's needs.
